About this site

Hi, my name is Jakub, and this is my website.

If you are interested in gardening, making and disassebling things and turning them into something totally else, especially if that "thing" comes from IKEA, you are in a right place. I post updates on my gardening season, hydroponic projects and various other things that make me happy.

A little bit about me

I am a regular dude from the Czech Republic in a constant battle for a balanced work-life ratio. I have a degree in Bioinformatics but after a few years of study, I've decided that this field might not be it for me. After school, I decided to pursue a career as a Software Engineer.

I grew up in a family where "traditional Czech hobbying" was part of everyday life, my grandparents were very cautious when it came to money and liked to fix and make stuff on their own. This unfortunately turned my mom into an eternal consumer but I always liked the DIY approach because if you build something only then you can fully understand the hows and whys of life.

I am a very DIY person even if that means a lot of broken stuff and failed attempts to solve the issue. Don't get me wrong, I am not a cheapskate trying to save some buck, I am just trying to push my comfort zone a little bit more but I am very aware of my boundaries and limitations.

Please keep in mind that this is my personal site, not a legitimate source or a wiki page. I am no expert in stuff I post here I like to consider myself "mediocre at best" so if you spot any mistake or misleading information, let me know, I will address it.

I use a generative AI for graphics and to correct my grammar and tone of the text since English is my second language and written text is very different to everyday communication especially in the technical field I currently occupy. I will never use generative AI to write the whole post or a significant portion of it. I have enough impostor syndrome to fight with, and I don't need more.
