About this site

Hi, my name is Jakub, and this is my website.

If you're interested in gardening, crafting, and repurposing items, especially those from IKEA, you're in the right place. I post updates on my gardening season, hydroponic projects, and other things that bring me joy.

A little bit about me

I am a regular dude from the Czech Republic, constantly in a battle for a balanced work-life ratio. I hold a degree in Bioinformatics, but after a few years of study, I've decided that this field may not be the right fit for me. After school, I decided to pursue a career as a Software Engineer.

I grew up in a family where "traditional Czech hobbying" was part of everyday life. My grandparents were very cautious when it came to money and enjoyed fixing and making things on their own. I have always liked the DIY approach because when you build something, you can only then fully understand the hows and whys of life.

I am a very DIY person, even if that means a lot of broken stuff and failed attempts to solve the issue. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a cheapskate trying to save some bucks; I'm just trying to push my comfort zone a little bit further. However, I'm very aware of my boundaries and limitations.

Please note that this is my personal site, not a legitimate source or a wiki page. I am no expert in stuff I post here; I like to consider myself "mediocre at best". If you spot any misinformation, let me know, and I will address it.

I use a generative AI for graphics and to correct my grammar, as English is my second language. Written text differs significantly from everyday communication, especially in the technical field I currently work in. I will never use generative AI to write the whole post or a significant portion of it. I have enough impostor syndrome to fight with, and I don't need more.
